Men's #AEHoops Postseason Update

For the third-straight year, four America East men's basketball teams made the postseason and one still remains alive. UMBC will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the semifinals of the CIT on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.

Vermont, Stony Brook and Albany also played postseason contests.

It's the third-straight year an America East team has reached the semifinals of a postseason tournament. Vermont played in the CBI semifinals last season and in 2015. 

UMBC (21-12) beat Fairfield and St. Francis (Pa.) in the first and second rounds of the CIT last week before downing Liberty in the semifinals Sunday. . It is the sixth-straight year and eighth time in the last nine that an America East team has won at least one postseason game.

Vermont (29-6) had its historic season end of the hands of Purdue in the first round of the NCAA tournament on March 16. The 13th-seeded Catamounts put a scare into the fourth-seeded Boilermakers before falling, 80-70. Vermont ended its season with more wins than any America East team in league history.

Stony Brook (18-14), which was making its seventh postseason appearance in the last eight years, lost a first round CBI game at UIC while Albany (21-14) fell to St. Peter's in a CIT first round contest. The Great Danes were making their sixth straight postseason appearance. 

America East is having one of its best men's basketball seasons in recent history with five 18-win teams for the first time. It's conference RPI of 21 is two spots better than last year and the best since the 2008-09 campaign. The 56 non-conference Division I wins are the most since 2008-09 as well.
