VESTAL, N.Y. -- Binghamton University men's basketball coach Kevin Broadus, the 2009 America East Coach of the Year, has received a contract extension that will run through the conclusion of the 2013-14 season. The extension comes on the heels of the Bearcats' historic season that featured a first-ever conference championship and NCAA tournament berth.
"Kevin has done a terrific job putting together a winning program and building a solid nucleus for future success," Director of Athletics Joel Thirer said. "He is committed to his student-athletes and committed to assuring they excel on the basketball court and that they also work toward and ultimately receive their college degrees."
The Bearcats went 23-9 this past winter, winning both the America East regular season and tournament titles. Binghamton went 13-3 in league play, won a school-record 11 consecutive games and capped their storybook season with an NCAA first-round matchup against Duke. The Bearcats were ranked No. 22 in the final CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll.
