Albany, UMBC, Stony Brook Earn #AEWLAX Week 11 Honors

BOSTON - Two teams clinched spots in the 2017 America East Women's Lacrosse Championship as both Stony Brook and Albany earned key wins over the weekend. With just two weeks remaining, The final two spots are still up for grabs, while Stony Brook can earn the right to host the tournament for the fifth-straight season with one more victory. Here are the week 11 award winners:

Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Lauren McDonald, UMBC, So., A, Catonsville, Md.

  • Scored eight goals on nine shots in a win over Binghamton.
  • The eight goals were tied for the second most ever scored in a conference game.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Kylie Ohlmiller, Stony Brook, Jr., A, Islip, N.Y. 

  • Totaled 20 points (9 goals, 11 assists) in a pair of wins for the Seawolves.
  • Currently has 103 points and is on pace to break the NCAA single-season points record of 148.
  • Notched four goals and five assists in a road win over Johns Hopkins.
  • Followed that with five goals and six assists in a win over Vermont. The 11 points were tied for the most ever in an America East league game.

Defensive Player of the Week
Erin Leghart, Albany, Fr., GK, Farmingdale, N.Y.

  • Made 14 saves and had a .538 save percentage in a 2-0 week.
  • Allowed just four goals while making three stops in a win over No. 8 Cornell.
  • Had a career-high 11 stops in a win over UNH.
  • Also added seven ground balls.

Rookie of the Week
Taryn Ohlmiller, Stony Brook, Fr., A, West Islip, N.Y.

  • Totaled 11 points for the week with six goals and five assists.
  • Notched a nine-point game in a win at Johns Hopkins with four goals and five assists.
  • Had a pair of goals in a win at Vermont.

Notes

  • Kylie Ohlmiller is up to 12th in NCAA history with 144 career assists. She is already the America East career assist leader.
  • The Seawolves have won 22-straight games against America East competition including the conference tournament.
  • Albany clinched its 9th-straight tournament appearance.
  • Stony Brook will make its sixth-straight trip to the tournament.
  • UNH committed a season-low nine turnovers at Albany. The Wildcats have not committed more turnover than their opponents in the last four games.
  • UNH is 15-0 lifetime against Binghamton since the Bearcats joined the America East in 2002. The teams will battle on Saturday at noon.
