CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – New Hampshire junior Morgan Thatcher and freshman Brenna Buckwalter earned America East Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, while Binghamton sophomore Amanda Dettmann was named Setter of the Week. The recipients for the week ending Sept. 23 were announced Monday afternoon.

Thatcher (Brockton, Mass.) led New Hampshire to a 3-0 week, leading the conference with a 4.64 kills per set average while also ranking sixth with a .306 hitting percentage. She set the tone early in the week in a, 3-2, win over Harvard with a match-high 22 kills and hit at a .353 clip. Thatcher paced UNH to a 3-0 sweep over Providence in the conference opener as she led all players with 14 kills and added 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. She also added a match-high 15 kills the next day in a 3-0 sweep over rival Dartmouth. The junior has posted double-digit kills in each of the last four matches and all but three matches this season.

Buckwalter (Evergreen, Colo.) also helped the Wildcats to a 3-0 week, averaging 2.36 kills per set with a .234 hitting percentage. She ranked second-best on the team in both categories for the week. A vital part of the UNH starting core, Bukwalter notched a pair of 10-kill performances against Harvard and Providence, also adding three blocks in the victory over the Friars. Through 17 matches, Buckwalter ranks first on the team in hitting percentage (.245) and fourth on the team in kills (1.88).

Dettmann (Milwaukee, Wis.) was instrumental in helping Binghamton to a 2-0 week, including the team’s first win over Syracuse at the Division I level, and a conference-opening victory over UMBC. Dettmann ranked second in the conference for the week, averaging 11.13 assists per set over the two matches, registering her seventh and eighth games with at least 40 assists. Her setting paced the team to a .314 hitting percentage, by far the best in the conference last week. Dettmann had 48 assists in the win at Syracuse, and followed that with 41 against UMBC. The sophomore helped the team hit at a season-best .402 clip, the best hitting percentage for the Bearcats in three season.

Notes
