Descartes enters her fourth year at America East and her first as the Assistant Commissioner for Finance and Administration. Her primary responsibilities lie in running day-to-day business office duties as well as administering annual conference championships. 

In her business role, Descartes manages and oversees the conference budget, prepares the fiscal year audit and serves as the office manager. She assists in the hiring of Conference staff while managing the conference intern search. She also manages all aspects of meeting planning and special events throughout the year and coordinates the conference's Annual Meeting.

Descartes is the primary conference contact for cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field. In addition to running the corresponding tournaments, Descartes administers the annual coaches' meetings for those sports. She also assists with the Championships & Competition Committee activities.

Prior to her position at the conference, Descartes was the athletic administrative intern at Colgate University and had previously worked at America East as the Internal Relations Intern during the 2005-06 school year.

A 2005 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Descartes was a four-year member of the indoor and outdoor track & field teams. As a two-year captain, she specialized in the weight and hammer throws for the Wildcats as well as the shot put and the discus throw. She earned All-America East honors in the discus and hammer throw during her career and was the 2005 America East champion in the hammer throw, setting a UNH record and advancing to the NCAA Regional.

Descartes spent three years working for the UNH Event Management Staff, eventually becoming an Event Supervisor and an Event Intern where she assisted with the 2004 America East Cross Country Championship and the 2005 NCAA Women's Frozen Four. She also assisted with the 2006 NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four and the 2006 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship, both in Boston.

Earning a Bachelor's of Science degree in Kinesiology, Sport Studies with a minor in Psychology, she was a member of the Commissioner's Honor Roll earning a GPA over 3.5 and represented UNH at the NCAA Leadership Conference in 2004. She was also a SAAC member. 

Descartes received a Master's of Management degree from Cambridge College and currently resides in Somerville, Massachusetts. An active member of Jubilee Christian Church, she serves in the music ministry and also enjoys working with young people. During her free time, you will find her cooking and baking in the kitchen.
