CAMBRIDGE, Mass.– The nine-team field for the 2008 America East Men’s Basketball Championship is set. The tournament takes place at Binghamton University’s Events Center on March 7-9, with the title game to be played on March 15 at the higher remaining seed. The league championship gets underway on Friday, March 7 as No. 8 Stony Brook takes on No. 9 Maine at 7 p.m. The winner of that first-round matchup will then face top-seeded UMBC on Saturday, March 8 at 12 noon in the first of four quarterfinal contests.
The day’s second quarterfinal features No. 5 Binghamton versus No. 4 Vermont at 2:30 p.m., while No. 7 New Hampshire and No. 2 Hartford meet in the night session’s first quarterfinal contest at 6 p.m. No. 6 Boston University battles No. 3 Albany at 8:30 p.m. to round out the day’s action.
The semifinals take place on Sunday, March 9 at 12 noon and 2:30 p.m. and will be televised live on Comcast Sports Net in New England and Time Warner Cable in Albany, and tape delay on MASN in the Mid-Atlantic region. The semifinal contests will also be available on ESPN’s Full Court and streamed online at AmericaEast.com.
The title game will be held on the campus of the higher remaining seed on Saturday, March 15 at 12 noon and can be seen live on ESPN2.
With the field now set, single-session tickets are scheduled to go on sale Monday, March 3. Adult tickets for session I are $15/each with student prices for any America East student with a valid ID set at $8. Adult tickets for sessions II, III and IV are $20/each with student prices set at $10.
