Boston University's Matt Howard (San Antonio, Texas) and University at Albany's Jessica Ortman (Williamsville, N.Y.) have been named America East Men’s and Women’s Track Performers of the Week, respectively, while Binghamton's Rory Quiller (West Point, N.Y.) and University at Albany's Jenn Gurrant (Batavia, N.Y.) earn Men’s and Women's Field Performers of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced Tuesday (February 13).

Howard earned two first-place finishes, running the 55-meter dash in 6.79 seconds and also taking the 200-meter dash in 22.33 seconds during Boston University's multi-team meet on Feb. 5. He followed up his strong performances with another top-ten finish in the Valentine Invitational on Feb. 9. Howard was one of only two Terriers to place in the top ten, running the 400 meters in 48.33 and finishing ninth.

Ortman set a school record as she finished fouth in the championship division mile run at the Tyson Invitational. Ortman posted an ECAC-qualifying time of 4:52.35 to break the previous school record set in 2004. She also won the 800-meter run to highlight her team's performance on the second day of the meet as she finished first in the championship division with a time of 2:08.12. Ortman became the second UAlbany athlete to win an event at Tyson Invitational defeating athletes from Baylor, Florida and Georgia.

Quiller won the pole vault in a home tri-meet against Albany and Syracuse with an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 17-1. It marks the second consecutive meet and third time this season that he has hit the NCAA provision mark. It also marked his second win in as many meets.

Gurrant qualified for the ECAC championships in March by winning the triple jump with a leap of 40-feet, 0.75-inches in a meet at Binghamton. She was just three-quarters of an inch off the school-record mark. Gurrant also ran the third leg on the first-place 4x400-relay that hit the tape in 3:55.11.
