The following are the 2011 top four grant recipients, as decided on by the Newman’s Own Foundation Campus Community Service Challenge’s Selection Panel. The top-prize grant of $25,000 was awarded to Albany's Third World Impact on Sunday, March 6 during the 2011 Ameirca East Basketball Championship presented by Newman's Own.
The University at Albany / The Giving Circle Third World Impact,
partnering with The Giving Circle, to build a school for 500 students in
Uganda, as well as sending Albany students to Uganda to teach.
Binghamton University / Boys & Girls Clubs
Boys & Girls
Club Mentors, partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of Binghamton, to
improve the lives of underprivileged youth through programming that
targets personal development, academics, and service to others.
Boston University / Community Servings
Student Food Rescue,
partnering with Community Servings, Inc., to regularly provide meals to
homebound and sick children and families, and advocate for hunger
relief.
University of New Hampshire / Girl Scouts
Eta Alpha Chapter of
Alpha Phi, partnering with Girl Scouts of the Green and White
Mountains, to educate girls about healthy relationships,
domestic-violence prevention, and self defense.
