UMass Lowell Sweeps Women's #AEHoops Week 6 Awards

BOSTON - America East women's basketball teams went 6-2 last week as student-athletes finished up final exams before heading into the holiday break. Albany, Maine, Stony Brook, UMass Lowell, Binghamton and New Hampshire all earned victories. Here are the week six award winners:

Player of the Week
Nicole Hayner, UMass Lowell, Sr., G, Bedford, N.H.

  • Tied a career-high with 23 points as UMass Lowell beat Colgate, 82-77, in overtime in the team's lone game last week.
  • Hit the game-tying 3-pointer with 18 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime.
  • Scored five fo the team's first eight points in overtime as the River Hawks built a five-point lead.
  • Finished with four 3-pointers along with five assists and four rebounds.

Rookie of the Week
Megan Hendrick, UMass Lowell, Fr., G, Alexandria, Va.

  • Scored a career-high 19 points in a win over Colgate, the team's lone game last week.
  • Shot 5-11 form the floor including 4-10 from 3-point range and 5-6 from the free throw line.
  • Hit a clutch 3-pointer with just over a minute to go in regulation that pulled the River Hawks within three before heading to overtime.
  • Hit another big 3-pointer in OT that expanded UMass Lowell's lead to four.
  • Added four rebounds, an assist and a steal.
