University of New Hampshire's Chris Arling and Chris Wingate and University of Hartford's Katie Connolly were all named Academic All-Americans in soccer by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced Tuesday.
Arling was a second-team men's selection, while Wingate was a third-team choice. Connolly was a second-team women's honoree.
All three honorees earned America East All-Conference and All-Academic recognition. Wingate was also chosen the men's Midfielder of the Year.
The trio are the conference's first Academic All-Americans of 2016-2017. Last year, the conference had eight honorees in total.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
