Student-Athlete Driven #AEFoodFrenzy Donates Over 7,500 Items to Local Pantries

Release: 12/21/2016

BOSTON - America East's nine athletic departments continue to make a profound impact in their communities. For the second-straight year,  the schools' America East Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) collected food items, which totaled over 7,500, and donated them to local food pantries as part of the Fall #AEFoodFrenzy.

The #AEFoodFrenzy is a conference-wide community service initiative designed to promote cohesion between America East’s member institutions while also providing significant donations to several charities in campus communities.

Each school hosted an #AEFoodFrenzy events in October where student-athletes brought goods collected on their respective campus and donated those to another America East campus' designated charity. In addition to the campus events, donations were accepted online via You Give Goods. In total, 7,647 items were collected and donated, more than three times last year's fall amount. A second #AEFoodFrenzy event will take place on each campus in the spring.

The #AEFoodFrenzy reflects the missions of both the America East SAAC and the conference at large. The America East Conference and all its members are dedicated to impacting, engaging and growing a community that reflects the values and convictions of the conference.
